Why is it important that Air Purifiers are Certified?

What is Air Purifier Certification?

How to make sure you are getting the best quality and most effective Air Purifiers – Is it AHAM Certified?

Why get a portable Air Purifier?

It can get cold with the windows open, but many homes, offices, and classrooms are keeping their windows open in accordance with government guidelines to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

Without ventilation or filtration, aerosol Covid particles can linger in the air for hours, meaning you don’t even need to be near someone to get infected.

But in these cold months, businesses are faced with the choice of keeping the windows open and wasting energy and money on heating, or having them closed and risking the spread of viruses.

This is why we are delighted to announce our brand-new range of certified Air Purifiers to help keep your home and office free of Airborne viruses.

Certification Process

Air purifiers can play a very important role in maintaining a healthy indoor air environment, but what does certification mean?

The best air purifiers last for years, which makes it very important that the device has the highest available standards.

The AHAM certification, the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), is listed on all certified air purifiers. The CADR measures how well the Purifier cleans the air above the natural rate of particles dropping to the ground.

Air purifiers are only eligible for certifications after it has gone through extensive tests.

AHAM performs these tests in a secured environment, with exposure to all types of hazardous particulates and measures all potential hazards individually.

How does Air Purification work?

Most people consider buying a Winix air purifier with a HEPA filter for health reasons. Air purifiers can refresh stale air, greatly reducing the chances of health issues caused by indoor pollutants, including house dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and mould.

These pollutants can trigger respiratory infections, neurological problems, and worsen asthma symptoms.

 The WINIX range combines 4 filtration systems to purify the air;

  1. Fine Mesh Pre-Filter
    • Stops the largest particles from blocking the filters.
  1. True HEPA Filter
    • Unlike misleading “HEPA-Type” filters, the True HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter is the most effective type of filter, certified to capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns.
    • HEPA filters are also effective below 0.3 microns, and can capture virus particles including Covid-19.
  1. Carbon Filter
    • Filters harmful gases, including smoke and odours
  1. PlasmaWave® Technology
    • Briefly ionises water in the air to remove impurities by creating Hydroxyl radical particles. These chemically attack pollutants like methane and carbon monoxide and turn them into harmless water and CO2.

These steps combined should give you all the security you need that you are breathing the cleanest air possible.

People with underlying medical conditions can improve their quality of life by buying a certified air purifier, the importance of certifications on air purifiers cannot be understated.

For the best protection against Covid-19, it is important that Air Purifiers are used in conjunction with existing government guidelines around mask-wearing, social-distancing, and regular sanitising.
